Snow

This is the first day that it has snowed. Not seriously, just enough to cover the ground. It makes my house feel very snug. The blocks are all done except the last row. With my very efficient storage system, I cannot find the white/taupe print. The question is whether to look some more or just use something else. Either way would be fine by me. I do know if I use another print, the first one will show up 3 days later.
This block is called Yzreka and was designed by Nancy Cabot in the 30's. I love how the corners come together. It looks like two blocks, but is not....more bang for the buck.
Now to my cozy quilting room!!!

well, its about time

I have a job that is based on projects and abstracting data from medical charts. They surprised me this year and had tons of work in November. It was last minute to help determine reimbursement levels for next year. The upshot is I have been very remiss in writing my blog. However, I have snuck in some quilting time.
This is am oldie I found while sort of cleaning up my sewing space. Although it is pretty dark, I still love it. Now I need to put it somewhere where I will see it and quilt it. The patterned blocks are made of little triangle scraps which were hand pieced over a period of time. I finished the top I started using slash and stitch. What fun!! Now am debating between machine and hand quilting probably using vertical lines.

Plaid Borders

Got this top done. A fun and easy scrap quilt. LOve the plaid borders and the secondary pattern. Must make myself work on a tutorial and stop procrastinating. Good excuse this week---a seminar all week.

More scraps

Started another scrappy quilt. Despite determination no dent in scrap pile. I love the secondary pattern in this. The block is first "upright" and then turned 90 degrees. The outside edge with keep the secondary pattern going. Another fun to piece block.

This or that

Have been under the weather lately both figuratively and literally. Have been busy, just not up to posting. First is this scrap quilt. Would like to know which set others like? Not sure whether I like the on-point or grid style. Am actually working on my first tutorial for this block--unhappy with pictures and with try again.
